I’ve been gone for way too long

Ugh, life seems to get in the way of living. I noticed that it has been a whole year since I last posted know here. School, kids, jobs… anyway! I’m here now. What reignited my desire to post again was this AWESOME book I read to my girls. It has to be in the top 3 best kids books I’ve ever read.

   Frankenstein Makes a Sandwich

by Adam Rex

This a series of poems about popular monsters and how they live their lives. It gives a silly view of things that happen to them, making the monster a lot less scary. For example Frankenstein is hungry and wants a sandwich. He leaves his home in search of the ingredients when an angry mob attacks him by throwing food at him. Frank makes the most of it by gathering the food and making a sandwich.

One of the poems is titled “Godzila pooped on my Honda” which warns the readers to “never go to Tokyo”. This was by far my daughters’ favorite of the poems although I was impartial to The Phantom Of the Opera’s reappearance throughout the book. Poor Bastard is having a hard go of it.

I highly recommend this book. It’ll make you and the kids laugh out loud. This book is a nice break from all the cutsy kids books out there.
